Hello friends! Happy New Year. I hope that it has been full of the best for you.
So far, my days of 2011 have been filled with snow days, tea parties, designing things, rearranging my living room, celebrating my birthday, & laughing at my new pet hedgehog.
I am very excited about the new projects and opportunities that await me. I am looking forward to sharing them with you.
Recently, I have been to two really great events at Cheekwood. First, I got to see Chihuly. I went both during the night and later during the day. Both times felt magical!
I also got to attend the El DiadelosMuertos festival. This was a day filled with bright decorations, good food, some crafts, and lots of entertaining dancers.
Paper Stitch Vintage was featured in an Etsy treasury for Back to School. Check it out.
Speaking of going back to school, my school started back for the fall semester. I am taking Portfolio Studies, Advanced Interactive, Rich Media Design, Information Design, & Introduction to Christianity. I can't believe my final year of college is already here, but I have a good feeling about the upcoming semester. I sure am going to miss stocking up on school supplies every August.
Tonight, I will leave you with a song I think is perfect for this time of year. I have my fingers crossed that I will get to hear it live when I see them at the Ryman in October.
These are my favorite part of the lyrics from the song:
"Wish me luck I know you think I'll need it For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone And you don't have to tell me that you love me For all the words I've never understood I know, I know"

So I thoroughly enjoyed my first week of blogging. Between starting the Etsy shop, garage sale hosting, car shopping, & diving into some sewing projects, I was forced to step away for a while.
Now that life has settled down and summer is starting to come to a close, I am ready share my daily adventures once again.
To start off, here's a few new sources of inspiration that have kept me going the last few weeks:
Bathroom Organization: Having curlyish, frizzy hair requires a variety of hair products, appliances, & all the other standard beauty supplies a girl must have. This has been one area of my tiny 700 sq ft apartment that I can not get into order. Lately, I have dove into issue after issue of Storage magazine and have done a lot of purging. I'm not quite there yet, but things are already looking a lot better!
Jeff Tweedy: If you are a Wilco fan, go buy this DVD right now. I promise you will love it. It has made me fall in love with my favorite Wilco songs all over again.
ReadyMade Magazine: Not only is the content of this magazine great, but I love the design of every single spread. Fun typography & illustrations make you want to try every recipe or DIY project. Dream job! They also have a great website with photos, projects, resources, & a blog I could get lost in for hours here.
Vintage Marquee Letters: I love thrifting. I love typography. I love that type has been a part of our culture for hundreds of years. These old marquee letters are such a tangible form of this love. Think of the many ways you could use them decorate your home. Start your collection today by shopping Etsy here.
Rural Tennessee: To be honest, I've always considered myself more of a city girl. But this summer I have found myself visiting the farms of friends like Caitlin & Kayla. Between soaking up the sun, going on crazy four wheeler adventures, and meeting a baby calf named Twinkle, I've found beauty in the rolling hills and animal life.
What kind of beauty has life surprised YOU with lately??

Fresh Meat! @ 11:02 PM
Hello All! Check it out... I am officially an Etsy Seller!! You can now shop 28 vintage lovelies at etsy.com/shop/paperstitchvintage.
Bookmark/Add it to your favorites. I have a lot of great items coming. ;)
Left without transportation or working internet, I was inspired to do a bit of crafting today. I stitched up this little book. It's filled with different sized pockets to hide my receipts, grocery lists, & to do notes. No more stray papers floating around in my purse!
I instantly fell in love when I stumbled across Lola's Room, an Etsy shop that features photography prints of all sorts of vintage appliances, collections, clothing, and more.
I especially love how she finds vintage typography in every day items. Absolutely lovely!
This morning, I did some chores around the apartment. When I realized what a beautiful day it was, however, I decided to go on an outdoor adventure. I packed everything I could fit into Will's old backpack and drove about an hour away into the Tennessee Mountains.
I love going on expeditions to Natchez Trace. It is always worth the drive.
I discovered a lot of new trails I had never been on before today, as well as lookout that overlooked nothing but patchwork farms and mountains until the green disappeared way off in the distance. (Wish I had taken a picture!) I felt like I was everywhere, but nowhere, at the same time.
Earlier this week, I mentioned my copy of Wreck This Journal. I brought it along today and worked up the courage to scribble in it some. Here's a page that instructed to draw a nonstop line: It's not a masterpiece of art or anything, but it was definitely liberating to use up some pages!

Words of Wisdom @ 10:30 AM
Two quotes that have inspired me lately:
"The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up." -Paul Valery
"Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves." Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662)

Something Unexpected. @ 6:08 PM
Interiors are perhaps one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I am nowhere near being ready to be a home owner.. so thank goodness for all the people who are willing to let us inside their beautiful homes via internet.
The other day this coffee table in a house she photographed caught my eye: I think if I walked by this table in a store or garage sale, I would keep walking casually. Not that I would dislike, I just don't think I would pick it out. However, I just love it in this Brooklyn Apartment with the wood on wood, and that comfy couch, and with a bold geometric chest of drawers standing proud in the background.
You can view the full post here. The rest of the apartment(and entire blog) is equally enjoyable.
I have always geeked out about school supplies, and graph paper is an old favorite that I am completely obsessed with! That's why when I saw these Knock-Knock sticky notes blankly staring at me from the impulse buy section at the checkout, I couldn't take my eyes off them.
Now I've got 100 sticky notes displaying a grid duo of these adorable tiny squares. They make the perfect little sidekick to my Moleskin squared notebook. Can't wait to use them. (So many great uses already come to mind.)
It has recently occurred to me that I don't like to use up the pages of my notebooks and sketchbooks because I'm afraid I will be sad when I run out. Does anybody else have this Filled Sketchbook Phobia?
One of my summer resolutions is to break this habit. Perhaps it's time to bust out my copy of Wrek This Journal. (Another one I've been too afraid to scribble in.)
Every time I step outside for some fresh summer air, these two little vintage owl planters make me smile. I've named them Scooter & Bloom.
Today, I filled them up with this lovely pair of cacti that Will & I stumbled across last week during a rainy afternoon filled with errands. We spent 30 minutes changing our minds over & over until we found the perfect match.
I think we made a good choice by taking these two home.
Somehow you've stumbled across this blog in the vast internet world.
Perhaps this is the beginning to many more entries filled with art, inspiring people, vintage treasures, lovely homes, photography, nature, randomness, good pure food, words of wisdom, crafts, beautiful design, stories, fashion, and whatever random thing I've stumbled across that makes my heart beat a little bit faster.
I guess it would be appropriate to include an introduction in my first post.
I'm a 21 year old graphic design student at O'More College of Design in Franklin, TN. I've always known this is what I wanted to do, and everyday I am more amazed that I am actually getting to do what I love.
I spend my days creating art, reading books & blogs, scavenging through other people's trash at garage sales & thrift stores, day dreaming, exploring middle Tennessee, and cooking delicious food with my boyfriend, Will.
So here's to a summer filled with crafts, cooking, thrifting, & explorations!
I love all things vintage, colorful, typographic, girly, witty, letterpressed, recycled, geeky, animal friendly, whimsical, numbered, organic, & handmade.
